The High School of Academies   

Anacostia Senior High School is located in the historically rich southeast portion of Washington, D.C. Anacostia is divided into five academies, which are schools-within-schools. Freshmen Academy provides students with a solid preparatory academic base. The students then move into their chosen career fields: Creative Arts, Environmental Science and Computer Technology; Law, Justice and Security; or Public Service. The goal of the academies is to prepare students for successful completion of high school followed by employment and/or post secondary education. The academies' instructional delivery team consists of an academic teaching staff that is certified by the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) system and a team of highly trained and experienced volunteer instuctors that are provided by sponsoring organizations. The instructional delivery team enhances academic subject areas by integrating professional career information at all grade levels.
